Fundamentals of Driving Patterns and Driving Cycles (Synthesis Lectures on Mechanical Engineering)

A driving cycles (DC) is a speed profile that represents the driving pattern of a given region or country. It is used to evaluate the vehicles energy consumption and emissions, as well as a tool to design vehicle powertrains and to evaluate strategies related energy management and logistics in several applications that involve the use of motorized vehicles. This book provides a comprehensive and general methodology to construct and assess DCs for motorized vehicles in a given region. Different techniques and methodologies for data collection and processing are presented, as well as new technologies and tendencies related to DCs are included and discussed.
